The Natural Reserve

A sanctuary in the heart of Paraná

The Reserva Natural do Alpinista protects an important remnant of the Araucaria Forest, an ecosystem within the Atlantic Forest biome. Springs, rivers, fauna, and flora find here a territory of protection and regeneration, where landscapes of great beauty and biodiversity remain alive for generations to come.

Environmental Project

Ecological Restoration

Restoring a forest means rebuilding the conditions for life to flourish once again. We restore degraded areas, reintroduce native species, regenerate the soil, and protect springs, helping biodiversity and the natural processes that sustain the forest to return.

Waters

Açungui River

The Reserva Natural do Alpinista is virtually surrounded by water, located at the confluence of the Açungui River and its tributary, the Palmital River. The headwaters of these rivers spring from the foothills of the Devonian Escarpment and feed the Ribeira de Iguape River Basin, forming an important water resource for Curitiba and its Metropolitan Region. Protecting these waters from their source means protecting the life and future of an entire region.
